Robins highlight excellent community work ahead of U18s Academy Origin

Ahead of the Robins hosting Game Two of the Academy Origin Series this Saturday between Yorkshire and Lancashire, Hull KR Academy Pathways Coordinator, Rob Wilson, has highlighted the great work the club is doing across the junior game.

'During three weeks in October, Sewell Group Craven Park will host six 'East vs West' games at the ground. These games range from U11s to U16s and feature the best talent from the amateur game in Hull - it's pivotal for the area. Featuring players from each team in the district, 'East vs West' showcases the best talent Hull has to offer within the grassroots game.

'We host all six City of Hull & District Rugby League (COHDRL) Challenge Cup Finals. All the teams in the district will battle it out to win the COHDRL Challenge Cup, and each of the finals will be played on the main pitch at Sewell Group Craven Park, giving some of the best talent in the city a chance to play on the same pitch as their idols.'

'We also host development days on the training pitches at the ground up to U13s level. This will give young players the chance to train with Hull KR's Academy coaches and learn from some of the best in the area. Hull KR will be inviting and hosting all Community Club's junior teams for welfare workshops with our Head of Welfare and Personal Development, Paula Cullen. There will also be coach education workshops with our Head of Academy, Jason Netherton, and I'll be hosting training sessions.

'We will will also host all COHDRL management meetings in our Chairman's Suite, as well as having all Secretaries' meetings in our 1882 Suite.

'One huge positive for the club is that all our Academy players will still be able to register with their Community club, giving back to the community game. If an Academy game was cancelled, or a player isn’t included in the match day squad, they could then play for their Community team to keep up their game time and development.

'Some brilliant examples of this are our current Academy players. Will Wilson (Hull Dockers), Ryan Moses (Cottingham Tigers), and Jack Townend (Skirlaugh Bulls), who have all benefited from playing for both Hull KR's Academy and their Community clubs this year.

'Finally, we’re hopeful to have three of our Academy Robins feature for Yorkshire in Game Two of U18s Academy Origin this Saturday, at 12:30pm. The game is free entry to please join us this Saturday to support Academy rugby league.'
