Robins announce upcoming player development days with Wilberforce College

Hull KR and Hull KR Foundation are excited to announce two upcoming development days for young male and female players in partnership with Wilberforce College on Tuesday 8th August and Tuesday 22 August.

Initially announced in November, Hull KR’s partnership with Wilberforce College allows students at the college to train with the club’s Academy and Women’s pathway alongside playing for the Robins’ male and female development teams. Students can play for the Robins’ development sides while undertaking any courses at Wilberforce College.

The development side’s coaching staff includes Hull KR’s Head of Academy Jason Netherton, Hull KR Women’s Head Coach, Ben Parker and the Robins’ Captain, Shaun Kenny Dowall.

While the partnership is new in East Hull, Hull KR have already benefitted from the growing college game with Robins’ star, James Batchelor having been scouted by Wakefield Trinity while playing for Wakefield College before making his journey to Super League with West Yorkshire club.

Batchelor has since gone on to make over 100 Super League appearances, play for England Knights and will be vying for a spot in the Robins’ Challenge Cup final squad ahead of August’s Betfred Challenge Cup Final at Wembley.
