Robins announce Academy graduates for 2024!
Hull KR are delighted to announce three Academy prospects have signed two-year deals with the first team ahead of the 2024 season.
Lennie Ellis, Louix Gorman and Harvey Horne have all earned first team contracts with the Robins and will officially join the first team ahead of next year’s pre-season.
The three Academy second years have excelled in both the Academy and Reserves system this year and have all been in fine form, resulting in Lennie and Louix debuting for the first team against Wigan Warriors in early August.
Harvey Horne began as a fullback at the club but has recently transitioned into a winger for the Robins due to his dangerous pace and finishing ability. This was showcased with his try in the Reserves' win over Salford last Saturday.
Lennie Ellis also transitioned positions this year, going from halfback to hooker, taking his new role on with both hands. Lennie's form not only secured him his first team debut, but resulted in a Yorkshire call-up in the Academy Origin.
Louix Gorman was selected to represent Yorkshire in this year’s Academy Origin, scoring in the final seconds of game two to level the scores at 30-30. The young centre also captained Ireland's u18s side at last year's European Championships in Italy. This led to Louix getting the chance to train with the Ireland’s men's side in the build-up to the World Cup.
Head of Academy, Jason Netherton shared his delight with tying these three young prospects down: 'It's great. All three have demonstrated the Hull KR way, and all deserve to be offered first team deals. Their attitudes have been outstanding, add that to their skill and we've got three, very good, young players here at Hull KR.'
Head coach Willie Peters knows what the new graduates need to do carry on progressing at the Robins whilst also giving recognition to the Hull KR Academy staff:
'Louix, Lennie and Harvey are all great lads, and they've been working hard over the past couple of months training with the first team and getting used to the intensity of a full time environment. If they continue to show the effort they have, while continuing to make the sacrifices needed, they'll all become regular Hull KR first team players in time.
'I believe the key for sustained success is to develop as many local juniors as possible to become first team players and build a team around that.
'This may take time, however, this is our vision as a club.
I would also like to acknowledge all of our Academy staff who have worked hard to help develop these three players and all of our current Academy squad.'
