Matty Wilson confirms 20-player Scholarship Squad for Wigan clash

Hull KR Scholarship Head Coach, Matty Wilson has confirmed his 20-player squad to head over the Pennines and face Wigan Warriors U16s tomorrow at Golborne Parkside, kick-off 7pm.

The junior Robins head to Wigan with Evan Adamson and Will Glover looking to play their first game for the club’s Scholarship side. So far, Matty Wilson has fielded 32 players for Hull KR’s U16s set up and will look to take it to 34 tomorrow night.

Following the Scholars’ win over Saints last month, two of the U16s players in Evan Williams and Drew Docherty both represented their countries at junior level in Wales and Scotland, respectively.

Evan helped the young Dragons to a 44-12 win over Ireland U16s in Dublin, scoring a try late in the second half. Drew captained Scotland’ U16s side against England Community Lions and received the Lions’ Player of the Match award in their 46-4 loss to England.

The Scholars go into this match against Wigan undefeated, after picking up wins against Huddersfield Giants, Bradford Bulls, Warrington Wolves and St. Helens.

It’s an impressive start to the 2024 campaign, and our U16s will be looking to put down another marker away at the Warriors.
