Young Robin Connor Barley signs new one-year extension
Hull KR are excited to confirm Connor Barley has signed a new one-year extension at the club, keeping the young centre at Sewell Group Craven Park until the end of the 2025 Betfred Super League season.
Barley made his Hull KR debut at 17-year-old against St. Helens in August 2022, scoring in the corner. The then-winger went on to play two more games for the Robins in 2022, helping the side to wins over Wigan Warriors and Hull FC.
The 6’1 centre completed his final season of Academy rugby in 2023, becoming the side’s top try scorer and winning the Ged Dunn award in the process.
The 19 year-old has enjoyed extended time on dual-registration with Featherstone Rovers this season, making 6 appearances for the West Yorkshire outfit, scoring two tries.
A tall, powerful centre with an ability to cut through defences, Barley will add depth and quality to the Robins’ three-quarter line for 2025.
Reacting to his new extension, Connor Barley said: ‘I'm delighted to re-sign with Hull KR. I’ve been here since I was a Scholar and there’s no place I’d rather be to continue on my journey.
‘I’m enjoying continuing my development here and I’m looking forward to what the future holds. I feel like this year. Me and Willie had some honest chats about where I was at and what I needed to work on.
‘This year, I’ve gone away and done that. I’ve really took on the feedback Willie and coaching staff have given me and I’m starting to show that in the Championship (for Featherstone).
‘It’s all about patience and learning my craft and who I am as a player. Hopefully I can do that and push for a spot in the first team.'
Hull KR Head Coach, Willie Peters said: ‘We’ve been really happy with Connor’s development over the last 12 months. I’ve seen maturity and growth in him on and off the field.
‘Connor has played Championship this year and definitely held his own. Connor has shown physically that he is capable at that level, now it’s about being consistent in playing in the Championships and the Reserves to take that next step towards being a Super League player.’
