Hull KR highlight Development Side success with Wilberforce Future Student Event

Hull KR will be present at Wilberforce Sixth Form College’s Future Student Event this Saturday 13th January (9:30am - 12:30pm) to welcome prospective Robins as the club look to build on the success of their Development Academy with the college.

The Robins’ Development Side have been in full flight this season, securing big wins over Wyke Sixth Form College and New College Pontefract followed by a dramatic 23-22 win over Leeds Rhinos’ Development Academy.

Still in their first season, the Development side are currently top of the RFL’s East Yorkshire College League having won three games and lost one to Park View Academy. The side have also reached the Quarter Finals of the College Cup after defeated Halifax Panthers Academy 24-18. The Robins will now head down south to face Hove’s Newman College on Wednesday 24th January (KO 2pm) for a place in the Semi-Finals.

The dual-career programme enables young players, and student athletes new to Rugby League, to undertake any of Wilberforce Sixth Form's academic courses alongside an enhanced Rugby League programme with Hull KR’s Academy and Foundation staff.

The student athletes train under Hull KR Academy and Foundation coaches at Sewell Group Craven Park whilst completing their studies at college. Alongside training sessions, playing opportunities for both the Men’s and Women’s squads will be on Wednesday afternoon’s in the RFL College League.
