The Academy Origin Series Sees Four Hull KR Academy Products Represent Yorkshire

The 2026 Academy Origin Series saw four Hull KR Academy Products represent Yorkshire across the two-game series.

In the first game at the Halliwell Jones Stadium (the home of the Warrington Wolves), Lancashire took a 10-0 lead before Yorkshire fired back to go in 14-10 at half-time, with a try from Captain of the Yorkshire side and Robin #1336 Alex Gorman to score.

After the break, Lancashire eventually went on to win the game 30-14.

The first game of the series saw Hull KR Academy Players Alex Gorman and Theo Middlemas take to the field, with Teo Ema and Harry Moore also named in the squad.

For the second game at the OneBore Stadium (home of the Castleford Tigers), all of four Hull KR Academy Players were named in the squad and made appearances on the pitch for Yorkshire.

Lancashire went 12-0 up early on before Yorkshire fought back and drew level at 12-12 before half time.

After the break, Yorkshire extended their advantage by eight points with another try from Alex Gorman and a penalty goal. However, Lancashire came from behind to win the arm wrestle 34-26, defeating Yorkshire 2-0 in the Origin series.

Yorkshire Captain and Hull KR Academy halfback Alex Gorman said:

“It was an unreal experience getting selected in that team, and then when the other lads got selected it showed how hard the full team (Hull KR Academy) has worked over the last year and that people were really recognising the hard work that we had put into it.

To get to captain Yorkshire meant so much to me as I know how much this game meant. Obviously we didn’t get the results that we wanted from both games but it was still such an honour to play in those games.”
