R1 Round-Up: Hull KR At The World Cup
The Rugby League World Cup got underway this week, with four Robins in action across three games.
A showpiece curtain raiser between co-hosts Australia and New Zealand kicked off the tournament on Thursday morning.
The Kiwis dominated for a large share of an electrifying contest but world champions Australia came out on top, with winger Jack Bostock scoring a hat-trick of tries that included a late winner.

The first Hull KR players in action were Arthur Mourgue and Jordan Dezaria as France opened their campaign against Samoa on Friday. Despite a heavy 78-4 defeat, the two Robins representing Les Blues can be proud of their efforts, particularly Dezaria who made an impact as an interchange.
Hull KR interest continued on Saturday as Rhyse Martin kicked seven conversions and scored a try in PNG’s 42-18 win over Lebanon in Port Moresby.
The back-rower, who announced his retirement at the end of the 2026 Super League season, got over from close range for the Kumuls in the second half.

England were beaten by a hard-hitting Tonga in Perth. AJ Brimson’s try early in the second half had made it a one-score game but Kristian Woolf’s side pulled away to a comfortable 30-12 victory in the end.
Jez Litten made an immediate influence from the bench in the second half, coming on after 57 minutes and making an instinctive line break before Dom Young claimed England’s second try of the game.
The appearance marked 28 year-old Litten’s fifth senior cap.
