Peters announced as Australia Assistant Coach for Ashes Series

Hull KR are delighted to announce Head Coach, Willie Peters has been selected as an Assistant Coach for Australia ahead of the Kangaroos' Ashes tour in England later this month.

Having guided the Robins to the Challenge Cup and a League Title this season, Peters is now preparing the club for a second Betfred Super League Grand Final appearance in as many years as the Red and Whites face Wigan Warriors this Saturday 11th October at Old Trafford in Manchester.

After the Grand Final, Peters will support Australia's Head Coach, Kevin Walters in preparing the Kangaroos for the upcoming Ashes series against England after a 22-year absence of the spectacle.

Australia’s 24-man squad was announced earlier this morning ahead of their three-game test against England. The series will start in London at Wembley on Saturday 25th October before heading to Liverpool for the second test to be at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday 1st November and culminating in Leeds at AMT Headingley on Saturday 8th November.

Speaking on his Australia appointment, Willie Peters said: “It's a huge honour to be working with the Kangaroos for the upcoming ashes.”

There's so much history between Australia and England and it's great to see they've brought the Ashes back. I'm really proud to be involved and supporting Head Coach, Kevin Walters. I'm looking forward to linking up with the side and preparing for the Ashes.”

For now, the main focus is this Saturday's Grand Final with Hull KR and putting everything into this week.”
