Kris Welham Testimonial Derby set for Sewell Group Craven Park

Former Hull KR favourite Kris Welham will return to Sewell Group Craven Park on Sunday 11 October (KO 1PM) for a special testimonial fixture, bringing together former Robins and Hull FC players for a one-off Hull derby.

Welham will join forces with former Hull FC forward Brad Fash for the special occasion, with the fixture forming part of the pair’s testimonials in recognition of ten years’ service to Rugby League.

The game will give Robins supporters the opportunity to welcome Welham back to East Hull and celebrate the contribution of a player who came through the ranks at Hull KR before becoming a firm fans’ favourite in Red and White.

A product of local amateur club Myton Warriors, Welham progressed through the Hull KR system before making his first-team debut for the Robins.

The centre went on to become a regular in the Hull KR side, making over 190 appearances for the club and scoring more than 100 tries during his time at Sewell Group Craven Park.

Welham represented the Robins during an important period in the club’s history, establishing himself in the side following the club’s promotion to Super League and going on to spend the majority of his career at the top level.

After leaving Hull KR at the end of the 2015 season, Welham continued his career with Bradford Bulls, Salford Red Devils and Featherstone Rovers.

Now, supporters will have the opportunity to see Welham pull on the boots at Sewell Group Craven Park once again as a host of familiar faces from both sides of the city come together.

The fixture will see former Hull KR players line up against former Hull FC players, adding another chapter to the city’s famous Rugby League rivalry.

The occasion will also celebrate the grassroots clubs that played an important role in the pair’s careers, including Myton Warriors, where Welham began his Rugby League journey.

Welham said: “The Hull derby has always been one of the biggest occasions in rugby league, and that is what makes this match so special.

“Although it is a friendly, there will always be plenty of pride when former Hull FC and Hull KR players take to the field. It will be a great opportunity to look back on some brilliant memories, catch up with familiar faces and thank the supporters who have been part of our careers.”

Further announcements, including the former Robins set to take part and additional matchday activity, will be confirmed in the build-up to the fixture.
