Hull KR U16s make it three wins from three with Warrington victory

Hull KR’s Scholars made it three wins on the bounce as they saw off Warrington Wolves U16s with a 22-8 win at Sewell Group Craven Park last night.

The rain came down in East Hull before kick-off and it’s impact could be felt in the opening quarter of the game.

The young Robins would spill the ball taking in a Warrington kick leaving the Wolves to capitalise and cross for the first score. The Wolves lead 4-0.

Neither Hull KR or Warrington could gain a foothold in the game with both teams spilling the ball and giving away field position.

After the 20 minute mark, the Robins would introduce their first interchanges which helped to spark life into the contest for the Red and Whites.

Young halfback, Preston Pettman found a gap close to the line and crossed for the Robins’ first try. Riley Dunn converted and Hull KR lead 6-4.

The Robins would then threaten Warrington’s line before Luca Irwin latched onto a neat kick from Josh Guynan the in-goal to put Hull KR 10-4 up. Dunn added the extras and it was 12-4 heading into half-time.

In the second half, Hull KR picked up were they left off with Alfie Woods crashing over after sustained pressure on the Wolves’ line. Dunn then added his third conversion and the Robins lead 18-4.

Errors began to creep into the game again as the conditions worsened. Warrington would then weather the storm and score in the corner to make the contest 18-8.

Heading into the final quarter, the Robins again found their rhythm in attack and shifted the ball to the right edge to put Riley Dunn over.

The try from Dunn would be a bring too far for the visitors and give the Robins’ U16s side their third win in as many games. Next up, Hull KR U16s head over to St.Helens on Wednesday May 1st.
