Hull KR Netball Charity Match
Hull KR's 12-hour netball marathon returns for its fourth year in 2026, in loving memory of Hollie Tennent.
Hollie Tennent took her own life in 2022 and was a close friend of the original members of the Hull KR netball squad. The first time this marathon was held, it was a 24-hour netball tournament that raised over £12,000, which was split between charities, Mind Hull and East Yorkshire and Dove House Hospice. After the success of the first event, the subsequent events have been 12-hour netball marathons.
On 24th January 2026, the netball marathon will take place from 10 am - 10 pm at the Waudby Centre, HU9 5LD. The average group therapy session at Mind Hull and East Yorkshire costs £10, which is the cost of two player entries (£5 each).
This event will be organised into time slots with games lasting ten minutes. Each team will swap games four times to equal the equivalent of a forty-minute game. It’s a non-traditional, high-energy, good-spirited day for a great cause.
For those not taking part in the marathon but still looking to support this great cause, there will be an opportunity to donate supplies for the day, such as food/water and other miscellaneous items.
There will also be the opportunity for people to have their own stalls at the event for baking and trinkets, with donation buckets present for the charities. A raffle will also take place during the marathon, with all proceeds split between the charities. Donations are welcome.
Olivia Park, Head of Hull KR Netball, said:
“We’re really looking forward to the charity day; it’s such a special day for us to remember Hollie and raise money for two incredible charities. It is a huge part of our club culture and everyone from the players to the parents gets to take part in some way.”
