Hull KR confirm Wakefield swap deal
Hull KR can confirm the club have released Will Dagger from the final year of his contract to join Wakefield Trinity while Corey Hall joins the Robins from the West Yorkshire club, both with immediate effect.
Currently the Robins’ longest serving player, Dagger joins Wakefield ending his 5-year association with the club as he searches for consistent game time at fullback. Having originally joined the club in late 2017 from Warrington Wolves, Dagger has made 51 appearances for the Robins, scoring 79 points in his time with the club.
As part of the move, the Robins are delighted to welcome exciting young centre, Corey Hall on two-and-a-half-year deal until the end of 2025.
A former Leeds Rhinos Academy player, Corey Hall is a welcomed addition to the club’s three-quarter line and will be in prime position to develop his game alongside the Robins’ seasoned centres, Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Tom Opacic.
The 6’2 centre was a stand out for Wakefield last season, racking up 26 appearances and scoring 7 tries during the West Yorkshire club’s 2022 season, helping the side to avoid relegation.
Hull KR Head Coach, Willie Peters paid tribute to Dagger ahead of his move to Wakefield ‘It was a good opportunity for both players. Firstly, for Dags’ (Will Dagger) to be able to play first grade every week. I think it’s an important move for him at this stage in his career and we’ve given him that opportunity.
‘On behalf of the club I’d like to thank Will for his contribution to Hull KR and what he’s brought to the team on and off the field.’
Peters was pleased to welcome Hall to the Robins, adding further quality and depth to the side’s three-quarter line: ‘We’re delighted for Corey Hall to join us at Hull KR, he’s a talented player for the future and definitely a Super League centre people will get to know more about in years to come.
‘He’s in the early stages of his development, but we’re looking forward to working with him over the next two and a half years.’
Hull KR Chief Executive, Paul Lakin added: ‘ We wish Will (Dagger) the very best in his move to Wakefield, he’s our longest serving player and has been an absolute pleasure to get to know. This is an opportunity for Will to play regular first team rugby in Super League and further his career.
‘Corey (Hall) is a player we’ve been keen on for some period of time, he’s still only 20 and has already played 31 SL games. We are delighted to have finally secured his signature.’
