Hull KR announce a one-year partnership extension with the University of Hull

Hull KR are delighted to announce a one-year partnership extension with the University of Hull, which will run through until the end of the 2026 season.

This partnership extension will see the University of Hull logo on the sleeve of our 2026 kits, including our LCD Alternate Shirt which will be launched at 6pm tonight.

The kit is inspired by the story of George Gray and the University of Hull, who played a significant role in the pioneering of liquid crystal display technology (LCD).

Did you know that the phone in your pocket, the screen on your desk and your Casio Watch exist because of a technological breakthrough over 50 years ago by a research team at the University of Hull?

This breakthrough was crucial for the development of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) used in modern flat-screen TVs, smartphones, and other electronic devices, laying the foundation for a multibillion-dollar industry.

Speaking on the partnership and the story behind our new LCD Alternate Kit, Steve Curtis, Director of Commercial Services at the University of Hull said:

Over fifty years on we’re still creating change-making teams and working with Hull KR to do so. We’re delighted to renew our partnership with the 2025 Treble winners.

Together we’re creating new opportunities for our students to work with players and the club’s leaders to gain hands on experience in developing sporting and commercial excellence.”
