Hull KR and Castleford Tigers to Compete for Roger Millward MBE Trophy

Hull KR and Castleford Tigers will celebrate one of rugby league’s all-time greats this Thursday when the two clubs face off for the Roger Millward MBE Trophy at Sewell Group Craven Park in Round 10 of the 2026 Betfred Super League.

The trophy was introduced in 2018 and is modelled on Roger’s famous number six shirt, in memory of the Robins and Castleford icon who sadly passed away in 2016 at the age of 68.

Having started his career with Castleford, Roger scored 16 tries and 35 goals over two years there before moving to Hull KR in 1966.

'Roger the Dodger' went on to become a legend of the sport, making 406 appearances for the Red and Whites and scoring a club record 207 tries along with 607 goals.

Roger helped the side to secure the 1977 Floodlit Trophy against St. Helens, 26-11, kick-starting a golden era for the club.

The Robins’ legend went on to etch himself in Hull KR's history forever, securing the 1980 Challenge Cup and the club and country’s first-ever Premiership and Championship double in the 1983-84 season.

A Great Britain and England international as a player, Roger later served as a coach at the club, committing 25 years’ service in total and was fittingly awarded an MBE for his services to Rugby League in 1983 and inducted into the Rugby League Hall of Fame in 2000.

The Robins currently hold the trophy after a 36-6 win over the Tigers last season.
