Ward outlines Hull KR excitement ahead of 2024

Fresh off joining Hull KR as the club's newest Assistant Coach, Danny Ward expressed his excitement to link up with the Robins in pre-season.

Speaking on his return to the club, Danny Ward said: ’It’s great to be back. I had a good time when I played at Hull KR.

'It’s the clubs that you’ve been involved with before that seem to hold a special place in your heart and I can’t wait, it’s a club that’s doing fantastic things on and off the field.

'They’ve had a great year, as a playing group, and you also see the gradings that came out from IMG that Hull KR are a club on the up and I want to be a part of that and help them continue pressing forward. It’s an exciting time, I can’t wait to get going.'

Following his initial chat with Willie Peters, Ward outlined his excitement to work with Peters, the coaching staff and the squad as he returns to East Hull: 'Willie is a really good bloke, first and foremost. Our chats seemed to flow as we spoke about rugby, life and everything straight away. I’m all about working with good people, getting on and building relationships with people.

'If you’ve got that from the start whether it’s players or staff, it’s key to success. I’ve always been about getting the right people involved, and that came across straight away through chatting with Willie.

'That’s what makes me excited to work with Willie as I’ve heard a lot of good things about him around rugby from what he’s done at Hull KR. I’m looking forward to meeting and catching up with the coaching staff who are already at Hull KR.'

Danny Ward will again link up with Jordan Abdull after coaching the halfback while he was with London Broncos in 2019. Ahead of pre-season, Ward highlighted his excitement to work with Jordan again and get to know the Robins’ squad: ' can’t wait, Jordan was brilliantlast time I worked with him. He’s really kicked on after he left London.

'There’s plenty of lads there I’ve known from around the traps and then plenty of new faces as well which is part of the challenge. To get to know people, get to see how they tick and build those relationships.

'Working in a bit of a different role as an Assistant means I can spend a little bit more time building closer relationships and working with players individually or in smaller groups, which makes it different to the Head Coach role but it’s one I’ve done before and am looking forward to working in.

'Hull KR have made some great signings, which makes it exciting to work with players of that caliber, alongside international players and a group of players that were fantastic last year, I’m really looking forward to these exciting times ahead.'
