McGuire names Wigan 20-man squad as injuries mount
Danny McGuire and his coaching staff have named their 20-man squad to face Wigan Warriors this Thursday at the DW Stadium.
The Robins welcome young first-teamers, Charlie Cavanaugh and Connor Moore alongside Will Tate and Phoenix Laulu Togaga’e following the costly win over Warrington last Friday.
Ryan Hall misses out this week with a suspected calf tear. The winger will undergo a scan late this week to confirm the severity of the injury. Jimmy Keinhorst is also unavailable this week after sustaining a concussion in the win over Warrington. Keinhorst was unable to return to the game after failing his HIA, meaning the German international will likely be available next week against Toulouse following the completion of his concussion return to play.
Mikey Lewis suffered a blow in the win, leaving the field late in the contest with a suspected high-grade ankle sprain. Similar to the ankle injury picked up in the win over Castleford, Lewis will have a scan later this week to investigate the injury further.
In a blow to the Robins’ forwards, Korbin Sims received a one-match ban for a late hit in the win over the Wolves. Positively, young prop Zach Fishwick returns to the squad after being cleared of covid-19. Alongside Zach, exciting academy players, Harvey Moore and Connor Barley have been included in the squad and will be pushing to make their debut this week.
The Robins’ Academy captain, Moore has been training with the first team intermittently through 2022 while Barley signed his first professional deal last year and has impressed when playing for the club’s Academy and Reserves. Barley also featured in all three games for Yorkshire in this year’s Origin Academy Series.
