Keinhorst commits to KR for 2023

Hull KR are delighted to confirm Jimmy Keinhorst has signed a new, one-year extension to stay at Sewell Group Craven Park until the end of 2023.

Keinhorst joined the Robins from Leeds Rhinos before the 2019 season having previously won the Grand Final with the side in 2015. The German international made an immediate impact on his debut, scoring the winning try in KR’s 18-16 Derby victory over Hull FC in 2019.

This year, the 31-year-old utility man has featured throughout the year on the wing, at centre and even in KR’s back-row, scoring one try and averaging 8 metres per carry. One of the club’s highest this year.

Keinhorst was delighted to continue his stay in East Hull, highlighting the group of players as key to his decision: I” enjoy being part of this group at the moment and I’m excited with where it can go. It was quite an easy decision.

“Yeah, obviously in the last few weeks results haven’t gone our way which makes it a bit tougher but I still enjoy working with the group and embracing the role I’ve got in the squad.

“It’s no secret I’m a utility player that’s able to fill in spots and I’m embracing that as it comes, week by week.

Everyone is on the same page and working together in the right direction so that’s what’s good about being a part of this squad.”

In recent weeks, the 2015 Grand Final winner has found himself in the Robins’ engine room at second-row: “I enjoy it there (second-row) or centre with that being my most comfortable position.

“I played bit of second-row early on in my career at Leeds and more recently with KR when I’ve been filling in with injuries and whatnot.”

I enjoy anywhere I’m put on the pitch to be honest and as long as I’m doing a good enough job for the guys around me then I’m happy.”

With KR now having a break before next Sunday’s home game against Salford Red Devils, Keinhorst feels the time off will help energise the side for the second half of the season:

“It’s not been going our way the last few weeks but we’re working hard and want to turn things around quickly. Hopefully, this break will do us some good, freshen us up and we’ll look forward to gathering some momentum when we return.”
