TRIO JOIN WORKINGTON ON DUAL REGISTRATION

Rovers' trio James Green, Dave Petersen and Nick Johnson have joined Championship One club Workington Town on dual registration forms.

The three youngsters travelled up to Workington yesterday and will be available for Town's Cumbrian derby against Barrow in the Northern Rail Cup this weekend.

Allowing the three to join up with the Championship One outfit is part of a partnership that has been struck up between the two clubs as Rovers' Chief Executive, Mike Smith, explained.

"The partnership with Workington is something we've been working on for the past couple of years and they're a great club with a proud history," he said.

"We're looking forward to working with them and having Dave Petersen, James Green and Nick Johnson go up there on the dual registration arrangement is only one element of the partnership.

"We had the Workington Chairman, Dave Bowden, down at MS3 Craven Park recently with a couple of his fellow board members in Tony Boyd and Malcolm Allison and they had a good look at how we operate as a club on all levels. It's about working together and sharing ideas as well as allowing some of our younger players to go out on dual registration."

Meanwhile, Robins' Head Coach, Craig Sandercock, is happy for Petersen, Green and Johnson to join up with Workington and believes it will only help with their development.

"I think it'll be a beneficial experience for all three of the boys," he said. "Dave (Petersen) is a real worker who needs to play against men to accelerate his progress, whilst James (Green) has been very close to first team selection so I'm looking forward to monitoring his progress.

"Nick (Johnson) has been improving steadily over the past few months and it'll be good for his development to challenge himself in that environment."
